• New Research by Dr. Berman – 1) New artificial Meniscus Implant and 2) New Cartilage repair technique.

    Dr. Berman is currently involved in two new research projects. Both are FDA studies. First, he is one of only 10 study sights in the USA to evaluate a new artificial Meniscus. Used only the medial side, the device, NuSurface, was developed in Israel and has been used in Israel and Europe. The company is now trying to bring it to the USA. It replaces a medial meniscus which may have been removed earlier and the patient still has symptoms. Secondly, a new FDA study originating in Italy uses stem cells harvested from the pelvis and placed into a hyaluronic acid matrix used to treat defects in the knee joint. Dr. Berman is one of only 12 research sights in the USA.

  • Moderator, host and a speaker at Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital of Arlington’s Sports Medicine Seminar 2016

    Dr. Berman was the moderator, host and one of the speakers at the Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital of Arlington’s Sports Medicine Seminar 2016. Dr. Berman helped create the program which started in 2014. The program was an overwhelming success. Coaches, trainers, physical therapists, nurses and other medical and sports related personnel were in attendance. The venue was at the W in Dallas. Topics included the patella-femoral joint, concussions, and foot and ankle injuries. The all-day event was highlighted by the key note speaker, Bill Walton, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, the winner of several NCAA championships and two NBA championships. Considered one of the great centers of all time, Mr. Walton was gracious in his interview and information.

    Dr. Berman and staff are honored to be one of only 25 cities in the USA to be involved with the Vericel Company, new owners of the Carticel technology, for the roll out of their new concept. Dr. Berman, Andrea, Amanda, and Tom, all will be hosting several doctors and their support staffs from around the area to a web cast from Boston sponsored by Vericel. Following the formal presentation, Dr. Berman will present one of his cases which had been published and then take questions from the audience. An exciting opportunity to reintroduce technology in preparation for the USA introduction of MACI, matrix induced chondrocyte implantation. Dr Berman once again will be on the speaker’s bureau for the Carticel procedure.

He is in the portfolio section as a “Neurosurgeon and Orthopedic Specialist Worth Knowing”. In the Biography, it notes Dr. Berman’s struggle getting an education in Mexico, in Spanish and in a school that routinely flunks out 75% of the freshman class by the time they are all seniors.   • Dr. Berman honored in the Living Magazine section of Super Docs

    Dr. Berman was once again honored to be in the Living Magazine section of Super Docs for the March 2014 edition. The article comments on Dr. Berman having operated in 6 different countries because of his work in cartilage restoration. One of the specialties discussed is arthroscopic shoulder surgery and rotator cuff repair. Surgery that is all done without incisions or ugly scars.

    dr-gobbiA good friend of Dr. Berman, Dr. Alberto Gobbi, of Milan, Italy, has recently been voted to be Executive Secretary of the ICRS, International Cartilage Repair Society. A great honor. Dr. Gobbi has been instrumental in developing new cartilage repair techniques especially bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC). Dr. Berman has had the privilege of working with Dr. Gobbi in Milan learning techniques many of which are not yet available in the USA.
